Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive
I thought these lyrics were most appropriate when so many gardens are
under the stress of drought and a long hot summer. Looking to the
positive there is a time for all plants and blooms to shine. In my
garden
succulents stand out in late summer. Their blooms my not be the showiest
but lean in and take a closer look and you will see their dainty blooms
are really quite beautiful.
* * *
You've got to
Ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
E-lim-my-nate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between
You've got to
Spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith, or pandemonium's
Liable to walk upon the scene
To illustrate this last remark:
Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark
What did they do
Just when everything looked so dark?
"Man," they said, "we better
Ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
E-lim-my-nate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between!"
~Lyrics by Johnny Mercer (one of Georgia's own)
Absolutely! Wonderful photos! I really hope you have a wet winter to help replenish your garden. What plants are featured in the first and last photos?
ReplyDeleteThanks CM! This has been the wettest August I can remember and yet we are still in severe drought. It is amazing how much rain it takes to make up. The first photo is aptenia cordifolia variegata and the last two photos are Bulbine frutescens 'Hallmark'
DeleteYes..I needed that today..Thank you..loved the photos..Michelle

Beautiful photos. The one of the ladybug has great color. I hope you get the rains. It is dry so many places and there is a lot of catching up to do.
ReplyDeleteJust adored this post! Thanks for the cheerfulness--I needed it after coming in from our nasty-looking garden. Your photos are spectacular--absolutely stunning! Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are gorgeous. The succulents look nice and healthy.

ReplyDeleteLove it Karin, good philosophy. Your photos are outstanding. What is the last bloom? Love the fuzzy anthers.
ReplyDeleteThanks Janet! The last bloom is Bulbine frutescens 'Hallmark'. It is new to my garden but is a wonderful addition! It has been blooming all summer long, much on neglect.
DeleteGood idea--accentuating the positive! I'm working on that. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteLove the pop of red and orange. Your photos always move me.
