  1. So cute and beautiful! At this time of the year, the hummingbirds are darting all around the yard to the feeders and to the flowers and to the tops of trees. They chit-chit at each other, and it does make me smile.

  4. The Sage Butterfly, the hummers zooming around the garden just make my day. They are such a thrill to watch.

Sunray Gardens, this hummer sat still for about 3 seconds. I was fortunate to have my camera in hand!

Sheila, this is a juvenile ruby-throated hummer.

  11. Great capture. It's so still. Coincidental to your post, our garden had several visitors this weekend. I mistakenly thought they were hummingbirds, which was surprising because we have no known ones locally, but they turned out to be sunbirds.

  12. Incredible picture!! I have tons of hummers but have I captured a picture? Nope! That would require actual skill!! Did Tropical Storm Lee bring you any rain? We've had so much some places are starting to flood.

  13. Marguerite, Donna, Eve and GWGT....Thank you for your kind words!

Cat, he sat still for about 3 seconds and then his buddy came chirping by wanting to play. I was lucky to have my camera in hand.

Greggo, I see them perch fairly frequently but never for very long. The male will perch in a tree to watch the feeder and zoom down and chase away the females and juveniles if he doesn't feel like sharing. They are so territorial and amusing to watch.

Bom, I didn't think there were hummers in your part of the world. Really cool to see sunbirds though.

CM, we got maybe 1" of rain from TS Lee. A little disappointing but we'll take it! It did bring in cooler temps which has been fantastic and two days of overcast skies which has been refreshing. I definitely think the wildlife is liking it because I am seeing a lot more activity in my garden.

  14. Great shot! I have memories of vacations in Colorado, where the hummers would perch on our fingers to feed. But never around here. Whenever I see a hummingbird it reminds of grace, because seeing/hearing them is such a wonderful gift.
